Hi, I'm Sofia
I’m a project manager. A parent. An expat living in Madrid, Spain.
Several years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Spain wasn't part of the plan for the long haul. Like many relocations for expatriates, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The early months were challenging — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complicated than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of on-the-job learning. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt secure.
Why I Created Gale Shale Ripple
Most online sources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice grounded in real life in Spain.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical experience from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- A tourism authority resource
- A sponsored-review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Spain goes on, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Best regards,
Sofia
